Breckenridge!

I am the first to admit that I'm a warm weather person and I generally hate the cold and snow.  This could stem from spending the first 17 years of my life in snowy central New York.  I don't even love snowboarding the way I used to and tend to avoid the snow and mountains at all cost.  However a recent trip to Breckenridge for work renewed my love of snow (though not of cold).  It being a work trip I was only able to get a whopping three runs in over four days.  However those 3 runs (on my new Signal board) made me once again love snowboarding. It helps that a beautiful, fluffy perfect snow was falling and it was one of those silent days on the snow. Some crappy cell phone photos of the trip:

Golden, Colorado: Clark Griswald's retirement home
Next stop Snowbasin, Utah for the Winter Dew Tour championships and I'm actually looking forward to it! However I am still a girl meant to live in tropical heat and that will never change. I'll take 85 degree humidity any day.

Karmaloop-Shopping, Coupons and Miss Wax

I am an avid shopper of the fantabulous site Karmaloop.  And being the deal nerd that I am I waited for good old Black Friday to order everything at 25% off.  In fact I'm such a deal nerd I only ordered sale stuff and also got 25% off that.  If you are a Karmaloop fan check out this site: Karmaloop Coupons.  It is pretty up to date and you can always find a coupon for at least 10% off your purchase, usually more. for example right now if you use the coupon code HDAZE you get 25% off any purchase of $60 PLUS free shipping.  Rad, right?

Anyway Karmaloop has this parallel site called Kazbah, or rather a site within Karmaloop.  Kazbah is for smaller labels and the product is shipped directly from the brand.  I ordered a pair of Miss Wax earrings.  I have one pair I got from this brand about a year ago but I have to say the offering has improved since then.  I believe all her jewelry is die cut wood but I am not sure how the color is applied.  I got them in the mail very quickly because, lo and behold, Miss Wax is about a mile away from my house. Look at these beauties:
The "Red Light Special" earrings

So of course I had to go and order more directly from her, who wouldn't want a pair of earrings with cuss words dangling from them?
The "Profanity" Earrings

The best thing is that these pieces are all from her fall collection so they're on sale on her site right now.  Photos link to where you can buy them.

Irregular Choice, How I love Thee

Anybody who knows me know that I love shoes, and that I go a little overboard with them.  If I came upon $1000 I would either buy a plane ticket or spend it on shoes, I wouldn't save it or do responsible things with it.  And any of my close girlfriends now that I'm a sucker for the UK brand Irregular Choice and have been for years. They are a difficult brand to find in San Diego, luckily I am quite the savvy online shopper.  However Irregular Choice is usually out of my budget-friendly price range but sometimes a girl has to make an exception.  Look at these, they're gorgeous!  I want, I need.
They're called Beans on Toast, awesome name huh?

The Mirror Mirror-Mirror Mirror on the wall, will I get these for Christmas?
Sweet As-Click those heels, these shoes will take you somewhere way better than home.
The Little Fish-I'm a sucker for metallic booties
Bangers and Mash-Never had bangers & mash but I'd take these over food any day

Wedding photo albums

So I PROMISE I'm not going to be one of those newlyweds (I'm not even really a newlywed anymore) that gushes about her wedding and how in love she is and all that barfy stuff that nobody wants to listen to.  But these just came in the mail and I wanted to show what an amazing job my brother Jeff did taking the photos at our little wedding and also putting together these awesome photo books as gifts for our parents. And my other (little) brother Evan designed all the elements. Can't wait for the parents to see them!

Starting a blog (years after everybody else did it)

I've always been a late bloomer so it makes sense that it didn't cross my mind to start a blog until now. I was always a "writer" until about 7 years ago I guess.  I kept detailed journals of my life up until that point. I have boxes and boxes of journals from about the time I was 10 on. They chronicled my ski racing years, my crushes on boys, teen angst and mischief and college (or in my case post-college) drunkenness.  I don't know why I stopped then because my life has gotten so much more interesting since that day (when I moved to California).  I've grown up, gone through jobs, gotten married, bought a home and all those things you do after college. And I've realized that I'm missing out on keeping track of these things.  I know I'll probably never keep a journal again but I figure a blog is a way to keep track of the highlights. I don't know why I've decided to take this on now, at a time when I already feel like there's not enough time in my day to do everything I want.  I realize that the world is blogging is inundated by pointless chatter.  I watched a documentary on Fran Lebowitz last night and and I can't remember who she was talking about but she said something to the effect of "When _________ said people should write what they feel he didn't mean everybody." So I'm sure that I am a person she's pointing to with that comment, but at least I'm not trying to write books, right?
